Meet our Pack

Zilla (senior rotti) - provides calm confident energy & leadership. Great guard dog.

Handsome Homer (pug) - provides submissive calm energy & companionship. The one who encouraged us to start the rescue early; owner surrender & re-rehabilitated.

Baby Jo (pittie-mix) - she is our guardian of the littles. She is also one of our testers. She is sensitive & loves her littles fearlessly. Great manners. Great walking role-model. Struck with parvo, she ended up in the care of rescue, hospitalized, and then we later adopted her.

Petey (special needs boston) - provides comedy relief and tolerance testing. If they can tolerate him, he also provides non-stop play. Owner surrender. After assessment, it was determined that he has a plethora of neurological issues. He has very difficult behaviors that we have modified for, adapted to, & accepted. He works really hard to be a good boy & has made huge strides. Because of his needs & behaviors, Petey was adopted by us and will be a lifer at The Ranch.

Moose (boston) - provides everything from a tester to role model. Moose is the whole package. She runs the house and provides comfort & protection for all inside.

Berni (mix) - guardian & tester. Rescued by another local rescue. We adopted her to start her training under Zilla. She proved to be more cautious, so she was transferred to the guardian & tester position. Very tolerant, mild mannered, submissive, fair, and calm.

Gracie (bully-mix) - guard dog, tester, role-model, & guardian. She will be filling Zilla's shoes. Rescued as a stray and stole the heart of Mr. Josh.

        Other Helpers

Horses - provide tolerance & exposure for all dogs.

Goats - provide tolerance & exposure for all dogs.

Cats - provide tolerance & exposure for all dogs.

         Ranch Rules

- Safety is #1.

- ALL dogs are initially assessed after their decompression time (how long all these phases take depends on the dog).

- Establish a relationship & trust.

- ALL Rescue Dogs (& some fosters) are carefully introduced to the pack & The Ranch Helpers.

- ALL dogs are taught basic manners & commands (even the foster dogs, just depends on how much time I have with them).

- Dogs are not adopted out until I have diligently assessed them & they know basic manners/commands.

- Will provide training videos of the specific dog so the new owners can continue their training and remember their trigger words/commands.

- Collar provided. Other tools, toys, etc., may be provided also. Depends on the dog.

- All vetting will be complete & up to date when adopted. This includes spay/neuter, vaccinations including rabies, and microchipped.

- Setting up the dog & human(s) for success is #2.

I am working under a certified dog trainer to increase the success of our dogs.
